Camp Artaban - Lifeguards

    Camp Artaban is an independent, non-profit society and an accredited member of the British Columbia Camps Association. Providing Christian Camping, rooted in Anglican tradition, since 1923, it is one of the oldest camps in British Columbia.

    Located at the Head of Long Bay on Gambier Island in Howe Sound, Camp Artaban is described as “awesome” by youth and “paradise” by adults.

    Less than one third of its scenic setting is used for accommodation and activity, leaving 47 pristine acres, and access to hundreds of acres of crown land for natural exploration, outdoor adventure and all levels of hiking. This ideal wilderness experience is just a 30 minute boat ride from Horseshoe Bay, West Vancouver.

    Lifeguards Job Summary:

    Responsible for all lifeguarding duties of children and adults in an open, ocean waterfront setting at Camp Artaban. Lifeguards are also responsible for monitoring the use of canoes, rowboats and paddleboards.  Other responsibilities may be required and are determined by the Onsite Director.

    Skills and Qualifications:

    • Must have experience guarding
    • Valid NLS certificate - beach option preferred
    • Pleasure Craft Operator card and boating skills are an asset
    • Must be comfortable working as part of a team
    • Clean Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check necessary
    • Must be able to lift 50+ lbs.

    Must be available to work from Available to work July 1 – Sept. 2 on site at Gambier Island. Room and board will be provided.
