Camp Artaban on Gambier Island is hiring staff for short contracts to work at a variety of onsite rentals. Dates are:
May 28 – June 1
June 25 – 29
August 31 – September 2
We are hiring for the following positions:
Assistant Cooks:
Responsible for assisting the Head Cook in all areas of food services. Will act as main cook in Head Cook’s absence. Must have Food Safe level 1. (Level 2 an asset).
Program Leaders:
Responsible for running a variety of program areas onsite, including crafts, sports, outtripping, archery and climbing. A belay ticket is required for running the climbing wall. Field experience with children recommended. First Aid an asset.
Rental Assistants:
Responsible for janitorial cleaning, general grounds upkeep and some building projects. Previous construction or other related experiences an asset. Must have a minimum class 7N driver’s license.
All staff over the age of 18 will be required to submit a clean Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check. Staff are paid on a contract basis, no deductions will be made from the pay cheque and no T4 will be issued. Staff are required to declare their income to Canada Revenue Agency.

Head Cook:
Responsible for providing food services for up to 175 people per meal and leading a kitchen crew of 5 others. Food Safe level 2 mandatory.
Lifeguards:
Responsible for running an open ocean waterfront program. Responsible for program development, facilitation and waterfront staff leadership. NLS required. OFA level lll an asset. Boating experience an asset.
First Aiders:
Live-in First Aider for staff and campers. OFA level lll required. Field experience with children recommended. Belay ticket and experience with climbing an asset.
