Kawkawa Camp is looking for an NLS Qualified Lifeguard to guard the camps busy lake waterfront.
Job Purpose:
The role of the lifeguard is to ensure that the waterfront is a fun and safe place for swimmers, tubers and users of canoes, kayaks and surf bikes. Lifeguards should command the waterfront area in such a way that campers and staff can feel confident that they can safely participate in waterfront activities.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Remain alert and dedicated to watching kids at all times while on waterfront duty.
- Make Waterfont Director and Program Director aware of any incidents and complete incident forms on any incident, accident of injury and hand over to camp administrator.
- Ensure that all campers and staff are aware of waterfront safety rules and reinforce these as necessary.
- Ensure docks are swept and maintained clean on a daily basis.
- Ensure boats are maintained in a clean and presentable manner.
- Lock up dock each evening.
- Ensure canoes, kayaks and life jackets are tidied away each evening and boat house is locked.
- Oversee the weekly polar bear swim.
- Accompany wake boarders from cabin to beach as required.
- Repair and maintain inflatables and other water toys as required.
- Lifeguards will also be expected to contribute to and be involved in all other aspects of camp life when not on specific guarding duty.
