Come join our energetic kitchen team to provide quality meals to our campers and rental groups. Evans Lake, located in Paradise Valley (15 minutes North of Squamish), is a 240-acre property on a private lake, operating as a kid’s camp since 1960. We are looking for someone who is a problem solver, is always positive, and most importantly, takes pride in creating delicious meals from scratch. This could be a great step forward in expanding your culinary career, as we cater events of all sizes, from kids camps to school groups to weddings to corporate retreats.
POSITION DETAILS
- Competitive wage ($18 - $21/ hour, based on experience)
- On-site, private accommodation is available and included
- A contract, full time position from March until the end of October
- 35-45 hours per week, work hours fluctuate depending on rental group needs
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Food preparation, batch cooking, includes breakfast, lunch, dinner & snacks
- Effective communicator, team oriented, ability to direct staff in a respectful manner
- Experienced in preparing meals for those with special diets and food allergies
- Supervision of all kitchen operations and staff during Kitchen Managers absence.
- Proven leadership & strong people skills
- Follow standards for food safety, presentation and quality, as well as kitchen safety and sanitation
REQUIREMENTS
- A positive attitude and a love for food/kitchen life
- Clear criminal records check upon hire, with vulnerable sector search
- Food Safe 1 certificate
- 3 years food service experience
- A driver’s license and vehicle (if not living at camp), as Evans Lake is not accessible by public transportation
ASSETS:
- Food Safe 2 Certificate
- Experience working with special diets/ allergy awareness
- Previous experience in a supervisory role
