Camp Latona is looking for an innovative individual to lead our amazing team for the summer as our Camp Director. We are and overnight summer camp that caters to a variety of groups throughout the summer, located on Gambier Island in the scenic Howe Sound. We are looking for a creative, collaborative team leader, responsible for staff recruitment, development and training. The ideal candidate brings a wealth of past outdoor camp experience, a passion for working with youth, and the ability to work independently.

The Camp Director establishes and maintains a positive and supportive relationship with our amazing team of counsellors and specialists who are responsible for the daily schedule of campers, assisting with high ropes; hiking; archery; kayaking; paddle boarding; tubing and so many more fun activities. Training for all activities will be provided, however past experience is greatly valued. The Camp Director acts as central figure for the relationship between parents, campers and Camp Latona staff. A positive and attitude, a cool head under pressure, and the ability to inspire and motivate those in their care is key.

The Camp Director will also work with the management team to develop, review and implement policy and procedures in conjunction with the BC Camping Association Accreditation standards. The Camp Director is responsible for the coordination of camper departures, arrivals, works with rental groups and liaises with community partners, staff, volunteers and parents. They work collaboratively with the maintenance and catering teams and are responsible for the development, maintenance and effective evaluation systems of all staff, leadership and programs.

Employees are expected to live onsite during camp operations. During the off season the Camp Director can work from home. Accommodation & food is provided by camp during the season.

• 25+ Years of age (as per the BC Camping Association Accreditation Standards)
• First aid

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Seasonal

Contract length: 5 months

Part-time hours: 20-40 per week

Salary: $176.00-$200.00 per day
